This assessment will allow you to check your hips ability to actively rotate. You will start in a sitting position, if possible it’s best to have your thigh parallel to the ground and feet dangling. You will need your phone to help with the measurement. For Iphone users, open up the “Measure” app and then click “level.” Android users may need to download the app “Clinometer + Bubble Level.” Once opened, you will place the phone along the side of your lowerleg. Helpful hints here are to make sure the screen of the phone is facing you and that you start from 0 degrees. Keeping your thigh stationary, rotate your lower leg up towards the ceiling both outwards and then inwards. Record each measurement and then add them together for your total arc of hip rotation.
