Having difficulty trying to teach someone how to use their hips with squatting?
Here is an excellent technique that promotes a hip strategy with squatting. To be clear - it is ok for the knees to go over the toes and for the knees to travel forward. However, if this is not the goal of your exercise or a knees forward strategy is contributing to your patient/client's pain you should try this out. The table physically blocks the knees from traveling forward, thus providing an external cue to hinge at the hips.
Send this to your patient or client for their HEP!
